Two tropical cyclones rotating above the Indic Ocean led to alarms throughout the basin for floods and damages. Cyclones were named Eunice and Diamondra. Cyclones could have a high impact on near inhabited islands.

BBC in the report the “Secrets of the animals that dive deep into the Ocean” highlighted the Cuvier´s beaked whales. Andreas Fahlman of Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi spoke to the BBC revealing marine biology secrets of deep diving ocean giants.

PLUS ONE journal published a new report which described historical climate change shifts which deprived the oceans of oxygen. The report used historical data of previous Eras in search of answers for what could happen to the Oceans under today's modern climate change. 

China Team Dongfeng Takes Leg 3 of Volvo Ocean Race
The team from China Dongfeng Race Team’s took home the lead of Leg 3 of the Volvo Ocean Race -known to be the most extreme ocean regatta in the world. Team Abu Dhabi came in second.

500 Jump into Chilly Atlantic Ocean Waters to Raise Funds for Special Olympics
During the 16th Annual Penguin Plunge hundreds jumped into the Atlantic Ocean to raise funds for the Special Olympics. Over 500 people participated in the event despite the coastal winds and chilly waters of Hampton Beach.

Tasmanian Ocean Swim Series Growing Fast Calls Swimmers to Warm Up 
The Tasmanian Ocean Swim Series 2014-15 called upon swimmers to “warm up the wetsuits”. Sport of Ocean Swimming is growing fast in Tasmania with the adding of two new events at Ulverstone and Devonport which adds to existing three new events at Burnie, Port Arthur and Bridport introduced last year.

Boardseekermag reported on the hidden gems and surf secrets of Scandinavia. “To head out in the waves along the Norwegian coastline at this time of the year is verging on suicidal as freezing winds combined with powerful waves provide, well to be honest, some of the best wave sailing in the world,” Boardseekingmag reported.

Space.com reported on the challenges NASA faces to find out wethere there is life or not under the oceans of Europa Moon of Jupiter. 

Private Islands for Sale in Pacific Ocean 
VLADI offers islands for sale in the Pacific Ocean Philippines, the Seychelles and the Maldives. The Seychelles, consists of 86 islands of which 17 are privately owned and from time to time these "paradise islands" come onto the market. Each purchase has to be sanctioned by the Government. 

MARUM Center for Environmental Science in Azores and Jamaica
Marum Center for Environmental Sciences communicated that until February 9th MARUM scientists onboard the research vessel METEOR on expedition across the Atlantic Ocean, will navigate from the Azores to Jamaica. Chief scientist Michael Siccha and his team explore communities of foraminifera – tiny organisms they catch out of the water with a fine-meshed plankton net.
