Antarctica Basin Mapped Out by US National Foundation
National US Foundation approved 21 million USD for a project which will map out the Antarctica basin utilizing over 200 floating technology capable of gathering acoustic, chemical, biological and physical data of the basin.

Russia Discovers New Island in the Artic Opening Debate on Geological Artic Dynamics
Members of the Russian investigation expedition of the vessel Admiral Vladimirski have officially confirmed the discovery of new island in the sea of Laptev in the Artic. Coordinates taken in location prove that the island has never been marked in the maps. Age of the island has not yet been determined nor revealed.

Spain University of Oviedo Reveals Bacteria Components of Value for Health
Researchers of the University of Oviedo Spain have discovered bacteria which produce elements which could be used by the pharmaceutical sector. Bacteria in focus inhabit algae and world coral ecosystems. Researchers discovered the bacteria in the Cantabrian Sea. Work is part of the investigation of the recently created Marine Austrian Observatory OMA. Bacteria in question are actinomycetes until now the primary known producers of antibiotics, anti-tumors and other essential health sector components. 

New Study Says 300 Million Cubic Meters of Magma Flowed in El Hierro in 2012
New innovative method based on thermic image analysis of the ocean surface has calculated the volcanic eruption registered in the waters south of El Hierro Spain which took place from October  2011 to February 2017. The analysis assures that the total magma discharged was of 300 million cubic meters. Data corroborated against the analysis of the Oceanographic Institute of Spain revealed that the new method is trustworthy for volcanic activity calculations.

NOAA Deep Argo Project to Measure World Oceans Temperature and Salinity
NOAA Deep Argo -project will monitor temperature and salinity up to 3.75 miles in depths through robotic floats will measure key data for the entire ocean. Temperature and Salinity measurements are the primary elements which define not only ocean conditions, dynamics, pressure, flow, biology, thermoclines and local ocean elements but influence global cycles.  A total of 3.5 thousand floats will be deployed by NOAA in Deep Argo.

Researchers of Cornell University Say Mimas Saturn Moon Could Hide an Ocean
Researchers of the University of Cornell concluded that Mimas one of the many Moons of Saturn could home a hidden ocean in its interior body. Researchers based their conclusions on imagery and orbit studies which reveal that the nucleus of the moon -closest to the planet is "non-conventional".  The study was published in the Magazine Science. 

ASP Brazil Santa Catarina Hawaiians Shine Day 1 of Oceano Santa Catarina Pro
ASP reported from the Brazil State of Santa Catarina Hawaiians Shine Day 1 of Oceano Santa Catarina Pro. "The iconic Brazilian pointbreak at Praia da Joaquina in Brazil produced light offshore winds and small but rippable waves in the 2-foot range (0.5-meter) for the opening day of competition at the ASP 5-Star Women’s Oceano Santa Catarina Pro," ASP stated. 

Artic Radiation-Ice Bridge Sea Experiment of NASA Investigates Retroactive Cycles
NASA is investigating if the marine ice retreat of the Arctic Ocean is contributing in a retroactive cycle which causes an increase of cloud formations and the alteration of temperatures among other issues. The investigation of NASA includes aerial missions on the Arctic Ocean through the ARISE-  Arctic Radiation-Ice Bridge Sea and Ice Experiment.

2014 Caribbean Cyclone Season Entering Final Phase
Local press of the Caribbean continue to report on the final phase of the 2014 Cyclone Season and its impacts on the ocean sector. The season this year was overridden by the effects of El Niño.

Spain Hesperides Says Expedition Data Gathered Requires Decades for Analysis
Spain vessel Hesperides has concluded a 42 thousand nautical mile expedition and assures to have gathered so much data that decades are needed for its full analysis. Thousands of samples have been extracted and classified for the investigation of the least known aspects of the oceans.

Centro America 7.4 Earthquakes Signals to Increased Activity and Tsunami Alert
El Salvador government declared on October 14th a tsunami alert in the Pacific Ocean after a 7.4 magnitude earthquake registered in the Centro American regions. The alert was suspended minutes after it was declared. Vigilance for activity in the region intensifies.

Ecuador Tropical Tuna Commission Concludes with Investigation Planning
Ecuador MAGAP Ministry of Agriculture, Live-Stock, Aquiculture and Fishery in coordination with the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission CIAT inaugurated the First Technical International Reunion on Coryphaenahippurus populations. Delegations of scientists of Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Colombia, US, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Ecuador met in Manta province of Manabi. Meetings concluded with the planning of joint investigations.

Marine Archeologists Present New Shipwreck Discovery Techniques
Over 300 researchers and archeological experts presented new techniques to discover lost ships in the ocean floors. The event was hosted in Spain University of Cartagena UPCT.
