WWF Leads in COP 20 Paris Ocean with “Oceans 7th Global Economy” Report
WWF released a new report assuring that the Ocean represents the seventh Global Economy with annual value of goods and services valued in 2.5 billion USD. The report was designed for the Paris COP 20 UN Summit. WWF presents solutions and priorities including UN Sustainable Development Goals, international agreements for impact reduction and for the protection of 10% of global ocean areas.
Progress M-27M Space Cargo Ship to Make Uncontrolled Reentry in Atlantic Ocean
Calculations reassured the population that the Russian spacecraft cargo ship will make its re-entry on the Atlantic Ocean. The Progress M-27M cargo spacecraft originally intended to deliver food, fuel and supplies to the International Space Station headed for an uncontrolled, non targeted re-entry after experiencing a failure early in its flight from which recovery was not possibly.
BIO Spain Hesperides Investigation Obtains Finance for Polar Expedition
The BIO Investigation Vessel on Oceanography Hesperides is back on expedition returning to Cartagena port. BIO obtained budget for their new campaign which will serve to finance the entire year. The focus of this year will be the Antarctic Basin.

Chile Volcanic Material of Calbuco Chile Expands to Indian Ocean
The eruption maps of the Volcano Calbuco of Chile released by NASA's Ozone Monitoring Instrument OMI reveal that ash and volcanic material of the Calbuco Volcano reached the higher atmosphere, and expanded through Chile, Argentina and South America in the past week. Volcanic material and gases have made it all the way to the Indian Ocean.
Strong Swells Affecting Coasts of El Salvador, Mexico, Peru and Honduras
International press, EFE and AP among others reported on strong swells affecting the Pacific Coasts of Latin American countries. Swells caused damages and breached coast land areas of El Salvador, Mexico, Peru, Honduras and others.
Nicaragua SINAPRED Disaster System Issues Tide and Swell Recommendations
The Nicaraguan Institute of Territorial Studies INETER released information on tides and swells for the Pacific Ocean. The government through the National System for the Prevention, Mitigation and Disaster Attention SINAPRED issued recommendations for the event.

NOAA informed that its Ship Okeanos Explorer is in port in San Juan, Puerto Rico after having completed the Océano Profundo 2015: Exploring Puerto Rico’s Seamounts, Trenches, and Troughs expedition. Next bound OKEANOS sets course to Hawaiian Archipelago and Johnston Atoll.
