Who will attend? Among the numerous International Freedivers Blue Big speaks of the presence of legends such as Alexey Molchanov from Russia, Guillaume Néry from France, and Carlos Coste from Venezuela.

Alexey Molchanov holds the title for the “Deepest Man in the World” descending to 128 meters. Freediving competition has been expanding the limits of how deep humans can go for the past Century. Today the Deepest Man in the World is Mochanov but after Big Blue ends that title could go to another diver.

Guillaume Néry from France descended 126 meters and was 4 times a World Record holder as well as two times World Champion.

Estrella Navarro called for divers telling them that the Island of Espiritu Santo is the perfect location to do freedive. The area is a Protected Natural Area which rests inside the Gulf of California. Jacques Cousteau himself called the waters of Espiritu Santo “the Aquarium of the World” because of the wide range of creatures inhabiting these waters.  The high biodiversity of Espiritu Santo has gained it the reputation for “one of the Top Ten places to dive in the World”. Waters at Santo will be flat, visibility extended to 30 meters, weather flawless and waters colors go from “transparent emerald turquoise in the surface and clear blue in the deep”.

But the Elite Freediving International Community and Top Athletes will not be alone and are not the only ones diving at Baja...

Big Blue said that Whale Sharks attendance is “Assured” as well as presence of Dolphins -33% of the World Dolphin Population live in these waters. Sea Lions presence is also more than secured -a colony of hundreds call these waters home. Whales could drop by and pass through although they prefer the waters of Espiritu Santo from December to March. Hammerheads will attend for sure as well and so will Turtles, Big Fish and the “surface-breachers” Flying Mantas.

Big Blue when taking on the First International Freediving Event in History took a firm stand on ecological and environmental awareness and importance.
